Hosted by Oxford SU in partnership with The Sickle Cell Society's blood donation project 'Give Blood, Spread Love', we will be holding an information stall to raise awareness of sickle cell and blood donation during Black History Month.
The Sickle Cell Society is the only national UK charity dedicated to supporting and representing people affected by sickle cell disorder (SCD), working to improve their quality of life.
Sickle cell disorder can affect anyone, but it most commonly affects people of African and Caribbean heritage. Around 17,500 people in the UK live with SCD today. As part of Black History Month, Oxford SU is proud to host The Sickle Cell Society's 'Give Blood Spread Love' project for an awareness event. Visit our information stall to learn more about SCD and the urgent need for ethnically matched blood for people living with SCD, sign up to give blood, meet representatives from the charity, and ask any questions you may have.
This event is free and open to all. Tickets are not required for entry, they simply help us estimate attendance.
The venue has step-free access and an accessible toilet is available.
