oKay Kpop Korean Culture Night
Magdalen College, OX1 4AU, Oxford
A cultural workshop hosted by the Oxford K-Pop Dance Society celebrating Korean Hanbok Day, where attendees can learn about traditional Korean clothing and create a piece of Korean attire while exploring Korean culture and community.
October 21st was chosen as it is "Hanbok Day (한복)" in Korea, a day celebrating traditional Korean clothing and wider culture. On this occasion, a long-term member of our society and her friend, both Korean, will be presenting some history behind traditional Korean clothing and lead a workshop aiming to sew and decorate a piece of Korean clothing ("beoseon", a traditional type of footwear worn with hanbok). The main goal of the event is allow the two Korean members leading the event to share a personal glimpse into their culture to the attendees in detail you can't get just from research. This event helps celebrate international communities found in Oxford and the UK and helps promote inter-cultural exchange to strength community connections.Accessibility: This event takes place at Magdalen College, a historic venue. Accessible routes, toilets, and hearing loop facilities are available. Please contact organisers in advance if you have any specific access requirements.
